- A Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Environmental Studies, Forestry, Wildlife Biology, or related field is required. An advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Biology, Botany, Conservation Biology, Environmental Science & Policy, Hydrogeology or related field is a plus.
- 4-6 years of work experience is required.
- Capability to execute and coordinate environmental permitting and environmental assessment activities with internal/external clients and regulatory agencies.
- Proficiency with ArcMap/GIS, AutoCAD is preferred.
- Knowledge of Alabama environmental regulations and permitting, regulation submittals, wetland or environmental design, EPA Rapid Bio-Assessment, and a NEPA background preferred.
- Professional Wetland Scientist, FWC Authorized Gopher Tortoise Agent, ADEM Qualified Credentialed Inspector, Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Stormwater, Sediment and Erosion Control Inspector (FDEP SECI) preferred.
- Specific species experience (Gopher Tortoise, beach mice or other species-specific experience) a plus.
- Experience with Alabama Department of Transportation (ADOT) PD&E process preferred.
- Additional Requirements:
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Regular field work in a variety of seasonal conditions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Local and occasional statewide travel is required for position.
