Summary
This position is located in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), Greater Atlantic Regional Fisheries Office (GARFO), with one vacancy in Gloucester, MA.
Major Duties
As a Regional Economist, you will perform the following duties: Maintain expert knowledge of the economic analytical and regulatory requirements of the Federal laws, executive orders, or policies that govern the marine conservation, management, and rule making process, which may include the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act, the Marine Mammal Protection Act, the National Environmental Policy Act, the Endangered Species Act, Regulatory Flexibility Act, Executive Order 12866, or other Federal laws. Prepare economic impact analysis that may include regulatory flexibility analyses, requirements of Executive Order 12866, cost benefit analyses, or other economic impact analyses. Provide the results of economic analysis to internal NMFS staff and assist in the regulatory process as needed. Present the results of economic analyses to regional fishery management councils, their advisory bodies, other groups or the public. Review and clear economic analyses prepared by other staff, including National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) staff, analysts with regional fishery management councils, other groups or contractors, to ensure that these analyses comply with applicable Federal laws, Executive Orders, and agency guidance and policy. Advise regional leadership, and if applicable, regional fishery management councils or other non- government groups or organizations about how economic principles apply to marine conservation and management actions. Develop economic analysis guidance and provide training to agency staff and, if applicable, to fishery management council or other non-agency staff, about economic analysis principles and agency guidance.
