Battery Technician
Location: Seattle, WA
Type: Full-time (or part-time), on-site
Overview:
Ecellix is seeking a Battery Technician with at least 2 years of hands-on experience making and testing electrochemical cells. This person will be responsible for building cells, running test protocols, maintaining cell-building equipment and workflows, and generating high-quality, reproducible data. This is a hands-on role for someone who already understands the discipline required for battery lab work.
Key Responsibilities:
Fabricate lithium-ion test cells, including coin cells, pouch cells, and other formats as needed
Prepare electrodes through slurry mixing, coating, drying, punching, pressing, calendering, and related steps
Assemble cells in glovebox or dry-room environments
Run electrochemical test protocols including formation, cycling, rate testing, and other standard evaluations
Maintain accurate records of build parameters, material lots, test conditions, and results
Identify and troubleshoot common cell-build and test issues
Maintain and help qualify lab equipment such as mixers, coaters, balances, crimpers, cyclers, and gloveboxes
Work closely with materials and process teams to evaluate new anodes, formulations, and cell designs
Support SOP development and continuous improvement of battery workflows
Follow strict safety and contamination-control practices
Qualifications:
BS in materials science, chemistry, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field
2+ years of hands-on experience making and testing battery cells
Direct experience with electrode fabrication and electrochemical cell assembly
Experience with battery cyclers and routine electrochemical testing
Strong recordkeeping and data discipline
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced lab environment
Preferred Skills:
Experience with silicon anodes or other high-expansion anode materials
Experience with slurry formulation, coating development, or calendering
Experience with pouch cells in addition to coin cells
Familiarity with failure analysis and troubleshooting of cell performance issues
Experience in startup or pilot-line environments

Builds cells reproducibly with low error rates
Generates trustworthy electrochemical data
Flags problems early and troubleshoots systematically
Helps establish robust battery workflows as Ecellix scales
