Are you mechanically inclined, dependable, and looking for an opportunity to build a career in a specialized technical field?
We are looking for a Battery Technician Trainee to join our Critical Power team. Previous battery, DC power, or critical-power experience is not required. We are willing to train the right person.
This is an entry-level opportunity with a path to develop into a Battery Technician through hands-on training and experience working alongside our Lead Battery Technicians and Battery Manager.
Our technicians work with the battery systems that provide critical backup power for data centers, telecommunications facilities, commercial facilities, and other mission-critical environments. This is a hands-on position that combines warehouse, material handling, equipment preparation, and field service work.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
You will begin by supporting our battery technicians and warehouse operations while learning the fundamentals of battery systems and critical power.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist Battery Technicians with battery installations, preparation, testing, and field service work.
- Load, unload, move, organize, and stage batteries, equipment, tools, and materials.
- Receive and inspect incoming materials and reconcile shipments against purchase orders.
- Document and report damaged, missing, or incorrect materials.
- Maintain accurate inventory of batteries, tools, spare parts, and equipment.
- Organize and maintain a clean, safe, and efficient warehouse.
- Test new batteries received for battery replacement projects.
- Verify battery date codes and condition.
- Recharge batteries in inventory as required and identify batteries that fail testing.
- Prepare defective batteries for recycling, including organizing, palletizing, and shrink-wrapping materials.
- Transport scrap metal, copper, wire, and cable to recycling facilities as needed.
- Assist with the preparation and movement of materials for customer projects.
- Operate a box truck and other company vehicles as needed.
- Learn proper procedures for battery handling, testing, installation, and safety.
- Follow all company safety procedures and customer-site requirements.
- Travel to customer locations as needed to support field service work.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
You do not need previous battery or critical-power experience. We will train the right candidate.

- Mechanically inclined and enjoys working with their hands.
- Comfortable learning how to use hand tools and testing equipment.
- Dependable, punctual, and willing to take direction.
- Safety-conscious and committed to following established procedures.
- Comfortable working in a warehouse and at customer job sites.
- Able to work independently as well as as part of a team.
- Willing and able to travel as needed.
- Interested in developing a long-term career in a technical field.
BACKGROUNDS THAT MAY TRANSFER WELL
Experience in any of the following areas may be helpful, but is not required:
- Electrical helper or apprentice
- HVAC
- Automotive or diesel
- Industrial maintenance
- Manufacturing
- Construction
- Telecommunications
- Equipment installation
- Warehouse/material handling
- Mechanical repair
- Field service
- Military technical or mechanical experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This is a physically demanding, hands-on position.
The ability to:
- Lift and move up to 75–100 pounds repeatedly throughout the workday.
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work in various positions for extended periods.
- Safely handle batteries, tools, equipment, and materials.
- Work in warehouse, industrial, and customer-site environments.
DRIVER'S LICENSE & TRAVEL
- Valid driver's license required.
- Must be able to operate a company vehicle, including a box truck.
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed is required.
- Overnight travel may be required depending on project needs.
CAREER DEVELOPMENT
We are willing to train the right person who demonstrates reliability, mechanical aptitude, a strong work ethic, and a desire to learn.
The goal of this position is to develop you into a Battery Technician capable of performing battery testing, installation, maintenance, and field service work.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Starting Pay: $25–$27 per hour
