Summary
You will serve as a Supervisory Hydrologic Technician for the Upper Midwest Water Science Center which provides a broad range of data products, analyses, and expert advice in the hydrologic sciences. You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 2 nights per month. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes. Salary Range (Per Annum): $89,508 (Step 1) to $116,362 (Step 10) First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the step 1 rate.
Major Duties
Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Supervises and schedules staff responsible for collecting, analyzing, and preparing surface water, groundwater, and water-quality data, ensuring adherence to USGS guidelines and accuracy standards. Oversees real-time data management, quality control, and timely updates for hydrologic information displayed on Water Data for the Nation, maintaining data integrity and reliability. Trains and mentors personnel in field data collection techniques, hydrologic computation methods, instrumentation, and supporting computer applications, fostering technical development. Directs and reviews complex hydrologic field efforts, including data collection, computation, and analysis while ensuring accuracy and continuity of records. Acts as liaison and advisor to hydrologic organizations, participates in program development, prepares workplans and budgets, and represents USGS at meetings and technical workshops.
