The successful candidate will be responsible for taking commercial solar projects from initial concept and feasibility through detailed design, procurement support, construction and commissioning.
You will work closely with clients, project managers, contractors, suppliers and internal engineering teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required technical standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and engineer commercial and industrial Solar PV, BESS and hybrid energy systems.
- Conduct site assessments, feasibility studies and technical evaluations.
- Develop system sizing from electricity bills, load profiles and site information.
- Produce detailed Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), PV layouts, string designs, inverter layouts, earthing designs and cable management layouts.
- Perform cable sizing, voltage-drop calculations and equipment selection.
- Develop Bills of Materials (BOMs), BOQs and technical cost inputs.
- Perform PV yield modelling and system optimisation.
- Prepare technical specifications, drawings, calculations and project documentation.
- Assist with Eskom and municipal SSEG/grid-connection applications.
- Support tender submissions, proposals and technical costing.
- Coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors and project teams during project execution.
- Provide technical support during installation, testing and commissioning.
- Review designs, drawings and documentation for quality and compliance.
- Participate in client meetings and technical presentations.
- Assist with project planning, scheduling and risk management.
- Conduct inspections and support commissioning and handover.
- Compile as-built drawings, commissioning documentation and technical reports.
- Provide technical input into operations, maintenance and after-sales support.
