Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) function for transmission line and substation projects.
- Develop, implement, and maintain project-specific Quality Plans (QAP), Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), Method Statements, and quality procedures.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, client requirements, applicable Indian Standards (IS), IEC, IEEE, ISO 9001, and statutory regulations.
- Oversee quality inspections for civil, structural, electrical, mechanical, erection, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Monitor supplier and vendor quality performance, conduct vendor evaluations, and ensure material quality compliance.
- Review and approve material inspection reports, factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), calibration records, and quality documentation.
- Plan and conduct internal quality audits, supplier audits, and support external/client audits.
- Manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), and ensure timely closure.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, HSE, and Project Management teams to achieve project quality objectives.
- Ensure complete quality documentation, inspection records, and turnover dossiers for project handover.
- Monitor quality KPIs, analyze trends, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead, mentor, and develop site quality engineers, inspectors, and QA/QC teams.
- Participate in client meetings, technical reviews, and project quality discussions.
- Support bid and proposal teams by reviewing quality requirements during project tendering.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Master's degree is an added advantage.
- Certification as an ISO 9001 Lead Auditor is preferred.
- Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt or equivalent quality certification is desirable.
Experience
- Minimum 12 years of experience in QA/QC within transmission line and substation EPC projects.
- Proven experience in EHV transmission projects (132 kV, 220 kV, 400 kV, 765 kV, and above).
- Experience managing quality functions for multiple projects simultaneously.
- Exposure to client inspections involving utilities such as Power Grid, State Transmission Utilities, or private developers.
- Experience with EPC contractors in the power transmission sector is highly preferred.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of transmission line construction, substations, testing, commissioning, and quality control practices.
- Thorough understanding of Indian Standards (IS), IEC, IEEE, ISO 9001, and client-specific quality requirements.
- Expertise in quality documentation, inspection planning, welding inspections, material testing, FAT, SAT, and commissioning quality.
- Knowledge of quality management tools such as RCA, CAPA, FMEA, 5 Why Analysis, and Statistical Process Control.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle is desirable.
- Ability to review engineering drawings, technical specifications, and quality documentation.

Preferred Industry Experience
Candidates with experience in power transmission EPC organizations, utilities, or infrastructure companies involved in transmission line and substation projects will be preferred.
Travel Requirement
Frequent travel to project sites across India as required for inspections, audits, quality reviews, and client interactions.
