Summary
You will serve as a Environmental Protection Specialist with National Park Service, Death Valley National Park. This position is responsible for performing difficult and complex environmental protection assignments in functions related to or within one or more of the following general areas: Rulemaking and Regulation, Compliance and Enforcement, Environmental Considerations and Documentation, and/or Program Administration and Oversight.
Major Duties
Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Organization and management of the planning, environmental review and public involvement process for assigned projects as an interdisciplinary team leader or member. Analysis of management requirements and information needs resulting in a recommended planning strategy (process, format, participants and required data). Ensures that all environmental quality matters are fully considered; local, state, and Federal regulatory requirements are identified and adhered to; and that a compliance program is developed and implemented. Develops an effective environmental program based on the literature reviews while interfacing with NPS mission and priorities. Prepares briefing documents, reports, etc., and presents them to higher authorities in either verbal or written form. In conjunction with engineers and scientists identifies potential problems, assesses impact, and determines mitigation measures associated with assigned tasks to ensure due consideration is given to reducing the environmental impacts of the parks planning and mission.
