The Opportunity
Join our 2027 Graduate Programme as a Graduate Air Quality Consultant in our vibrant Bristol office, where you will be part of a market-leading Environmental & Technical Services discipline.
About The Role
As a Graduate Consultant, you will balance technical learning with practical project delivery to assess and manage air quality impacts for diverse infrastructure, energy, and development projects across the UK. You will sit within a collaborative national team of air quality specialists, working closely with acoustic, EIA, and transport professionals to deliver sustainable solutions for our clients.
Your core responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with atmospheric dispersion modelling (using industry-standard software such as ADMS-Roads or AERMOD) to predict pollutant concentrations.
- Processing, analysing, and interpreting air quality and meteorological data sets using GIS tools and Excel.
- Contributing to the preparation of clear technical reports, Air Quality Assessments (AQAs), and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) chapters.
- Assisting with air quality monitoring programmes, including diffusion tube deployment, continuous monitoring data collection, and site inspections.
- Evaluating project plans against UK air quality strategy standards, local planning policy, and environmental permitting guidelines.
- Collaborating across internal engineering, environmental, and planning teams to integrate air quality mitigation measures into project designs.
We are committed to supporting employees in achieving relevant professional qualifications and accreditation. The applicable professional qualification for this role is Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) status with the Institute of Air Quality Management (IAQM) / Institution of Environmental Sciences (IES).
Your Impact
In this role, you will directly contribute to safeguarding public health and improving atmospheric environments across the UK. Supporting a wide range of developments—from major transport schemes and clean energy installations to residential and commercial masterplans—your technical assessments will directly inform sustainable planning decisions and emissions reduction strategies. Working alongside industry experts, your daily efforts will help communities breathe cleaner air, support net-zero ambitions, and leave a positive, lasting environmental legacy.
