Summary
You will serve as a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic for the Facility Maintenance, Roads crew for Golden Gate National Recreation Area. You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the step 1 rate.
Major Duties
Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Overhaul, repair, service and maintain heavy equipment such as bulldozers, graders, 10-cubic yard dump trucks, front end loaders and similar heavy construction and earth moving vehicles, including rock crusher equipment. Provide preventative maintenance of heavy equipment and vehicles in accordance with manufacturers' standards, park, and General Services Administration (GSA) policies. Performing work to determine causes of mechanical operating problems, tracing and locating defects, and making repairs. Execute projects such as repairing and overhauling of gasoline and diesel engines, manual and automatic transmissions, differentials, hydraulic and other power units, drive trains, electrical and cooling systems, steering, wheel and brake assemblies, and other attachments and components of heavy construction equipment. Work also involves welding repairs to plows, blades, and structural members and fabricating parts from raw stock. Operate and transport heavy equipment such as loader, snowplow, graders, bulldozers, two and four wheel drive dump trucks.
