Introduction

CLIENT in the MINING INDUSTRY requires the services of a SENIOR MANAGER ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING at their plant in the GAUTENG AREA as soon as possible

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Developing and executing Occupational Hygiene /Ventilation, Radiation Protection, Fire Prevention and Planning strategic objectives to ensure that agreed targets are linked to levels of maturity and a risk-based approach.
Developing a risk management framework that will facilitate the achievement of Occupational Hygiene / Ventilation goals and specific objectives.
Leading the development of policies and procedures for overall management and governance of the Occupational Hygiene/ Ventilation function.
Establishing and integrating optimised processes and systems to meet the strategic Occupational hygiene performance and risk indicators, using regular and benchmarked reporting processes.
Implementing best Occupational Hygiene / Ventilation control practices and providing guidance in the roll out into the different areas to ensure compliance.
Ensuring integration of Occupational Hygiene control systems with other disciplines and operational information systems to attain organisational objectives.
Measuring and monitoring Occupational Hygiene/Ventilation performance to identify gaps in strategic plan deployment and closing out of actions.
Monitoring and assessing future trends, threats, pressures, environmental, Health and safety impacts and potential Occupational Hygiene risks to timeously direct or re-direct Occupational Hygiene systems.
Liaising with a range of customers, internal departments, Service Providers, cross-functional departments, Operations and Government regulatory bodies
Formulate and manage annual budgets for the department in line with business requirements and financial objectives and lead and drive cost saving and cash conservation initiatives.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Minimum Required Qualification:

NQF 7 (bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma) in Science/Engineering (Physical, Biological or Social) and a Certificate in Mine Environmental Control.

The Appointee should:

Have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in Occupational Hygiene/Environmental Engineering, Radiation Protection and Emergency Preparedness and Response of which 5 years should have been at a senior management level or experience in a functional/specialist area.
Be registered as an Occupational Hygienist or Environmental Engineer.
Be medically fit to work in the specific business area.
Have clear security screening record.
Have a valid driver’s license.

Advantageous Qualifications:

NQF 8 (Post graduate Diploma / Honours Degree / Professional Qualification Degree) in Science/Engineering (Physical, Biological or Social).
Business qualification.
