THE OPPORTUNITY
Pinyon is seeking an enthusiastic Business Development and Project Manager to lead efforts in developing and increasing our presence in the Arizona market. This individual will drive strategic growth and business development, offer specific technical experience and project management expertise. As the office lead, this position will oversee the Arizona office, mentor staff and serve as the culture champion.
This role will require a minimum of 3 days in person at our Arizona office.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Oversee and manage projects within their area of expertise, including completion of technical reviews.
- Continuously expand knowledge and expertise beyond one's primary field, evolving into a deep generalist capable of contributing to various company sectors.
- Actively participate in project management work, demonstrating a willingness to learn and excel in diverse areas, transcending specialization in fields such as geology or biology.
- Dedicate efforts to increase Pinyon's brand presence throughout Arizona, emphasizing the importance of networking and building relationships with both direct clients and professionals in adjacent fields; facilitate the sharing of information and resources.
- Identify and connect with potential clients, nurture, and develop client relationships that foster trust and long-term partnerships.
- Attending professional organization events to network and stay updated on industry trends.
- Serve as a leader within the office, offering guidance and mentorship to foster growth among team members; facilitate and manage team meetings to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
- Fostering integration within the team and embracing the culture of Pinyon by actively engaging with colleagues from various sectors within the company.
- Review Request for Proposals (RFP) to assess project suitability; prepare and review project proposals.
- Develop Statements of Qualifications (SOQ) and marketing materials to promote the company's capabilities.
- Participating in client meetings and discussions.
- Conducting fieldwork and site visits as necessary for project evaluation.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO OUR ORGANIZATION
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in an environmental discipline (e.g., environmental science, geology, biology, environmental planning, environmental engineering, etc.).
- 5+ years of environmental consulting experience.
- A proven seller/doer and demonstrates the ability to develop a strategic plan with clearly defined goals and metrics, and ability to follow through.
- Ability to develop and foster relationships, including internally at Pinyon, and externally with clients, partners, and the community.
- Prior experience in strategic growth and business development, project management and specific technical experience.
- Ability and aptitude to identify problems and translate those problems into opportunities.
- Ability to work and excel in a team setting, but also work independently.
- Outstanding communication skills (verbal and written) are required.
- Effective in high pressure-situations and managing various tasks simultaneously.
- Strong critical thinking and problem solving is essential.
- Strong organizational, technical writing, and effective communication skills are required.

WHAT OUR ORGANIZATION IS PROVIDING
- Expected annual salary range of $90,000 - $110,000 based on experience.
