Summary
This position, within the Law Enforcement, Security & Emergency Services Division serves as an instructor and course developer in the assigned course areas of law enforcement and/or criminal investigation. This is a not-to-exceed one (1) year temporary promotion/detail assignment. This temporary promotion/detail may be extended without further competition; however, it may not exceed a total of five (5) years. This temporary promotion/detail may be made permanent without further competition.
Major Duties
This announcement is a re-advertisment from announcement: WO-1614-VRP-26-12973841-IMP Major Duties of the Park Ranger (Protection) - Law Enforcement Instructor position include, but are not limited to the following: Serves as a senior commissioned law enforcement officer responsible for patrol, investigations, arrests, search and seizure activities, maintaining firearms proficiency, and applying advanced investigative and enforcement techniques. Creates, updates, and evaluates operating plans, standard operating procedures, action plans, and long and shortrange operational strategies to include improvements to program quality and efficiency. Analyzes diverse operational challenges, determines resource requirements, revises program activities to align with funding and leadership priorities, and leads investigations of major incidents or complaints. Conduct research on training topics, develop best practices, write instructional content, and contribute to agency-wide training policies and standards. Promotion Potential: Promotion to the full performance level is neither guaranteed nor implied and will be based solely on your ability to satisfactorily perform the work of the position, existing work at the higher grade level, and recommendation by the position's supervisor. Temporary Promotion Requirements - Career or career-conditional candidates applying for a temporary promotion, must meet all qualification requirements, including time-in-grade qualification requirements. Detail Requirements - Career or career-conditional candidates must meet qualification requirements, however, candidates are not required to meet the time-in-grade qualification requirements of this position. Details also apply to current employees who hold the full performance level of the position (GS-11) or higher grade level on a permanent basis. While on detail, the employee continues to hold their official position from which detailed and keeps the same status and grade.
