Major Duties
As a Supervisory IT Specialist, you will perform the following duties: Provide oversight of the overall planning, direction, and timely execution of the National Ocean Service's (NOS), National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science (NCCOS), Information Technology (IT) Program. Coordinate the strategic development of multi-year and long- range plans and objectives for network security, IT procedures analysis, and application and requirements analysis. Oversee project management leading to the testing and implementation of network systems, network architectures and IT security. Evaluate and define infrastructure software and hardware component requirements. Manage the development of policy changes in response to allocation appropriations and legislative changes. Perform a full range of supervisory functions, including developing and evaluating performance standards, giving advice, counsel, or instruction to employees. Make or approve selections for subordinate positions and identify training needs. This position will be filled under the DOC Alternative Personnel System (CAPS). Under CAPS, positions are classified by career, pay plan, and pay band. The ZP-5 is equivalent to the GS-15.
