Summary
This position is located in Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site, in the Facilities Management Division. This position is being filled under the Field Unit Local Hiring Authority (FUL). See below under Additional Information for further eligibility guidance.
Major Duties
Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will work from approximately 11 months, and you will be in a non-pay/non-duty status for at least 2 weeks to 6 months from December 27 through February 6, per year based on project requirements or weather conditions. Building and Facility Maintenance Carpentry Repair, construct, install, and replace doors, shelves, windows, trim, cabinets, hardware, and similar building components. Painting Paint and stain facilities and equipment using brushes, rollers, and sprayers; prepare surfaces and assist with larger painting projects. Plumbing Replace fixtures and fittings, repair faucets, unclog drains, and perform basic plumbing repairs. Electrical Replace light switches, fixtures, and bulbs; assist electricians as needed. Cement Finishing Build forms, pour and level concrete, repair sidewalks, steps, and other concrete surfaces. Masonry Assist in maintaining and repairing historic and modern stone, mortar, or adobe structures. Roofing Patch and repair roofs, correct leaks, and help maintain historic and modern roofing systems Perform custodial and laborer work on grounds, trails, campgrounds, restrooms, and visitor facilities. Collect trash and make minor repairs. Receive and unload supplies. Operate light trucks and forklifts.
