Job-Role: Procurement Engineer

Job purpose: The role will manage and oversee the supply chain for large-scale solar EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for strategic planning, sourcing, procurement, logistics, inventory management, and delivery of materials and services, ensuring the timely and cost-effective execution of solar projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Supply Chain Strategy & Planning:
- Develop and implement supply chain strategies for solar EPC projects, ensuring alignment with project timelines and budget.
- Assess risks and implement mitigation strategies to minimize delays and cost overruns.
- Forecast material needs, coordinate with suppliers, and monitor project progress to ensure uninterrupted supply.
Procurement Management:
- Oversee the procurement of solar panels, trackers, inverters, BESS, transformers, switchgear and other related equipment.
- Negotiate contracts with suppliers and vendors, ensuring favorable terms and conditions.
- Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory procurement requirements.
Logistics & Inventory Management:
- Coordinate the transportation and delivery of materials and equipment to project sites.
- Maintain an optimized inventory system, ensuring accurate tracking and availability of materials.
- Resolve any supply chain or logistics issues, minimizing disruptions to project timelines.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management:
- Manage relationships with key vendors and suppliers, ensuring high- quality service and timely delivery.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and other internal teams (say technical, quality, finance and operations) to ensure seamless integration of the supply chain with project requirements.
Cost Control & Budgeting:
- Monitor and control supply chain-related costs to ensure adherence to the project budget.
- Analyze cost-effectiveness and identify opportunities for cost savings while maintaining quality and performance standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Engineering, or a related field (master’s preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in supply chain management, with at least 4-5 years in the solar EPC industry.
- Certification in supply chain management (CSCP, CPSM, etc.).
Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of procurement, logistics, and inventory management for large-scale projects.
- Strong understanding of the solar industry, including equipment, materials, and technology.
- Proven experience in contract negotiations, supplier management, and cost optimization.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and with external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in supply chain software and tools (ERP, SAP, etc.).
- Experience with handling Indian and International (Chinese) vendors for solar projects.
- Understanding of sustainability practices and regulations in the solar industry.
