Our client, a leading organisation within a complex, multi-site FMCG environment, is seeking an experienced Employee Relations Manager to establish and lead a best-in-class ER function. The role is based in Gauteng (Johannesburg)
This is a strategic and hands-on role for a seasoned ER professional who can operate confidently in a unionised, fast-paced environment, balancing operational demands with strong stakeholder engagement and sound labour relations practice
You will be responsible for shaping and driving the organisation's ER approach-ensuring compliance, consistency, and constructive labour relationships while supporting leadership teams across multiple sites.
Key Focus Areas
- Design and implementation of ER strategies, frameworks, and policies
- Management of complex ER cases including grievances, discipline, and disputes
- Representation at CCMA and Labour Court proceedings
- Union engagement, negotiation, and relationship management
- Coaching leaders on ER best practice and fair process application
- Driving ER governance, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Supporting organisational culture and change initiatives
Minimum Requirements:
Education and Experience
- Postgraduate qualification in Labour Relations, HR, or related field (Labour Law advantageous)
- 8+ years' solid Employee Relations experience in a complex organisation
- Proven CCMA and Labour Court representation experience
- Strong background in unionised FMCG environments
- Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Deep knowledge of South African labour legislation (BCEA, LRA, EEA)
