Summary
This position operates one or more motor vehicles, which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight of more than 26,000 pounds and up to 32,000 pounds. The vehicles operated meet the definition of a commercial motor vehicle, and the incumbent of the position is required to have a commercial driver's license, which makes is a drug testing designation position.
Major Duties
Operates motor vehicles such as but not limited to pickup trucks with and without trailers and heavy equipment such as front-end loaders, sewage trucks, water trucks, and garbage trucks. Performs maintenance to vehicles and equipment operated such as checking and topping off fluids, checking tires, or cleaning. Performs maintenance work such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical tasks. Performs custodial duties such as sweeping, scrubbing, waxing floors, cleaning deodorize lavatories, urinals, toilets, and sinks. Performs masonry work of limited difficulty such as assisting in the maintenance, repair, and stabilization of historic sites built of stone, mortar, or adobe and/or contemporary buildings, features or structures. Career Seasonal: This is a Career-Seasonal position and subject to release and recall procedures. A permanent career-seasonal position includes all the benefits of permanent employment, but does not provide employment on a full year-round basis. As such, selectee will be in a non-pay/non-duty status for at least 2 weeks to 6 months per year based on project requirements or weather conditions. Selectee are guaranteed to work at least 6 months per year but not more than 50 weeks per year, with the work schedule to be determined upon appointment. The typical season for Bandelier National Monument is Jan-Feb and March- Dec (Non-pay period 2/2-3/1), but can be variable during these months due to project requirements or weather conditions.
