JOB PURPOSE
Business Context: KP Group was founded by Dr. Faruk G. Patel in 1994 which is now well recognized
group of Gujarat. It started business operations in 1994 as a logistics service provider with owned & hired
feet of vehicles and during its forward journey, it has virtually surpassed all expectations by emerging as
award winning India’s prominent Telecom Infrastructure Developing Enterprise in mobile telecom and
of late in renewable (Solar, Wind & Hybrid) power sectors in last more than 15 years.
The Group has completed more than 29+ years of its successful operations and today consists of several
group of companies, all contributing to the fast and robust growth of the group. During the last decade the
group has achieved phenomenal growth as a result of diversification into fabrication and galvanizing,
renewable energy sector (Solar, Wind & Hybrid) and Telecom infrastructure.
KP Group has been significantly contributing to India’s green energy transition . It has delivered more
than a gigawatt cumulatively in solar, wind and hybrid and with entry into green hydrogen and ammonia,
our commitment towards green energy transition has become even more strong. The Group has
successfully completed Initial Public Offer in both Solar and Wind renewable energy and has its two
companies listed on BSE Limited and one in NSE.
Job Purpose:
The legal function has been and is growing into a robust self-sustaining back-bone for the business. The
team is agile and ready to make changes to support the dynamic and innovative work of the company. For
this purpose, the team is growing and needs to build its internal functions and verticals. The power sector
is rapidly innovating and evolving. Constant reforms in the regulatory practices substantiate a
quintessential requirement for the legal team to be dynamic as well. Not only does the team function like
an in-house law firm, but also as a strategic partner to the business units. It has been providing strategic
advice across all of KP Group’s businesses and locations. It is becoming a one-stop solution provider,
delving into risk mitigation with the object of compliance to all statutory, legal and regulatory
requirements keeping the growth mindset of the business, front and centre.
This position will assist the Legal Head, to provide legal advice, anticipate issues and estimate risks
strategically. The Role will need to evaluate and weigh multiple inputs and impacts of any decision or
course of action undertaken by the KP Group, with the objective of ensuring that the Company is in
compliance with applicable laws and regulations; and the interest of the company is protected within the
limits of laws, regulations and market practice and the internal policies of the shareholders.
This role will work with a team of lawyers who focus on Operations and will actively participate in new
energy and innovation practices and project contracting.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Accountabilities
The incumbent will be expected to assist in
matters ranging across operations, asset
management, compliances, project
documentation, tender documentation, and
general transaction management to ensure
compliance with the best standards.
Major Activities
Work internally with other functions such as
Operations and Maintenance, Business
Development, Human Resources, Procurement,
Corporate Services, Compliance and Risk, and
site-based project teams to ensure appropriate
and timely delivery of integrated legal services.
Review RFQ/RFP details to understand
documentation requirements and proactively
participate in all pre-bid discussions with the
Business Development team.
Analyze project related data collected and
prepared by construction and operations team
to highlight probable legal risks basis
company and government policies and
regulations.
Prepare a comprehensive legal risk matrix
and formulate strategies to mitigate each risk
thereby assisting the senior management in
accurately assessing the impact of each
business opportunity.
Oversee the end-to-end process for EPC
contracting with Client, sub-contractor,
project handling, providing technical
expertise, appointing external legal
consultants for due diligence and
understanding of local laws, contract
documentation etc.
Assist in appointing external consultants to
help with legal documentation.
Review/draft all contractual agreements
(confidentiality agreements, service
contracts, unique services contracts,
developer/turnkey contracts) for
safeguarding KP Group’s business interests
within the limits of company policies and
guidelines.
Periodically review the existing Contract
documents in detail to safeguard KP Group’s
business interests from legal risk arising due
to the changing regulatory landscape.
Update EPC contracts, PPAs, Operation and
Maintenance Agreements time to time basis
the requirements and regulatory updates.
Assisting with review and finalization of
contracts and other documents.
Document and Contract Management
Advising on legal aspects of development of
various projects, assisting in reviewing,
negotiating and finalizing contracts and other
documents, liaising with external counsel and
internal teams.
Compliance Management
Advising on day-to-day legal issues.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Educational Qualifications
Minimum Qualification: LLB from reputed Law College/University
Functional Skills
Excellent academic record;
Basic knowledge of Indian laws relating to the energy/power industry;
Drafting experience;
Tender documentation / project contracting experience;
Ability to work under pressure and deliver under tight timelines;
Must have practical sense and approach to legal issues;
Functional understanding of and experience in the power sector would be preferred; and
Strong oral and written communication skills; excellent judgment; high standards of ethics,
honesty and integrity.

Minimum 5 years of total experience
Experience in the power sector is preferred
