Summary
This position is located in Flagstaff Area National Monuments, in the Facility Management Division. This position will work under the Maintenance Work Leader or Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor.
Major Duties
Perform routine maintenance to buildings, grounds, roads, equipment and related park assets. These will include campgrounds, trails, restrooms, public spaces, and paved roads. Employees will assist higher graded employees and tradesmen in the performance of construction and maintenance activities. Other activities may include minor plumbing, carpentry, trash collection, forklift operation, transporting materials, unloading and loading materials. Will be expected to operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid driver's license. Employee may also be expected to operate a forklift and other machinery as needed. Area Information: The incumbent will be required to work within the Flagstaff Area National Monuments which consist of Sunset Crater Volcano, Walnut Canyon and Wupatki National Monuments. Flagstaff has an elevation of 7,000 ft. and includes multiple K-12 public and private schools, Northern Arizona University, a diverse community, medical and other support services. The rental and home markets in Flagstaff can be relatively expensive and limited. Summers in Flagstaff are warm with temperatures in the 80's and frequent monsoon thunderstorms. Winters are cold, with low temperatures near zero and snow averaging around 90 inches. Recreational opportunities in both areas cross all four seasons in environments ranging from low deserts to high mountains and include hiking, backpacking, fishing, cross-country and downhill skiing, and golfing in nearby communities.
