- Design and Development: Engineer brake system components, including brake hoses, rigid brake lines, and brake pedal assemblies. Lead the design and development processes for these components, including routing, packaging, and kinematic integration within the vehicle.
- Supplier Coordination: Interface with suppliers to ensure components meet structural, performance, and packaging requirements.
- Vehicle Systems Integration: Contribute to the development and integration of components within the vehicle platform.
- Technical Excellence: Uphold the vision of engineering excellence and serve as a source of technical knowledge. Introduce innovative ideas and collaborate cross-functionally to achieve the Scout vision.
- Engineering Improvements: Critically review existing designs, ideas, and specifications, proposing engineering improvements.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with team members to design and develop improved packaging and testing strategies, fostering engagement and contributions from all involved.
- Solution Development: Partner with concept and systems architecture teams to develop solutions for engineering and functional challenges.
- Prototype and Serial Development: Coordinate prototype and serial development stages, including part availability, test planning, and part releases.
- Additional Tasks: Participate in other related tasks and activities as required.
Location & Travel Expectations:
- This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Novi, Michigan.
- This role requires 4-5 days per week in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events.
- Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

- Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Technology, or Engineering Technology.
- Experience: 4+ years of experience in brake hose, brake line, and brake pedal cluster development within an OEM environment, including concept engineering and serial production for SUV/truck platforms. Experience with full vehicle integration is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Strong capability in CAD/FEA design and development of brake hoses, rigid brake lines, and pedal clusters, including routing, packaging, and kinematic considerations. Experience with system-level brake performance, requirements decomposition, DFMEA/DVP&R, and validation testing. Familiarity with supplier engineering collaboration, as well as manufacturing, assembly, and plant launch processes.
- Project Management: Proven ability to lead component and subsystem development within an OEM environment, with ownership of timing, cost, quality, and deliverables for brake hoses, lines, and pedal assemblies. Ability to independently manage projects aligned with vehicle program milestones.
- Motivation and Innovation: Highly motivated engineer with a passion for brake system development and vehicle safety, capable of driving innovative technical solutions, optimizing system performance, and participating in hands-on validation, testing, and root-cause analysis.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, including ownership, initiative, problem-solving, analytical thinking, and effective communication. Demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence cross-functional teams, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Cross-Functional Excellence: Proven success working across OEM functions, including brake system integration, vehicle dynamics, packaging, manufacturing, purchasing, quality, and supplier development teams.
- Proactive Approach: Demonstrates a proactive, results-driven mindset, taking ownership of issues, driving timely resolution, and continuously improving product performance, robustness, and engineering processes.

Pay Transparency
This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
Initial base salary range = $110,000.00 - $135,000.00
