Summary
This position is located in Jimmy Carter National Historic Site, in the Maintenance Division. These positions are being filled under the Field Unit Local Hiring Authority (FUL). See below under Additional Information for further eligibility guidance.
Major Duties
The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of preservation trade work needed to build, maintain, restore, and/or preserve historic structures and landscapes. Such structures and landscapes include but are not limited to historic buildings, monuments, memorials, statues, markers, signs, tablets, artillery pieces, etc. As a Preservation Worker, the incumbent performs trade work related to historic preservation. As a member of a park organization's historic preservation program, the incumbent is required to adhere to the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. The work requires knowledge of historic preservation machining, cement finishing, masonry, welding, metal forging, wood crafting, gardening, and/or engineering equipment operation in order to perform preservation work under the general supervision of a higher-graded employee or supervisor. While the incumbent may perform lower-level duties in a variety of trades as well as some administrative functions, the primary intent and purpose of the position is the preservation of historic structures and landscapes. Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will work a minimum of 13 pay periods per calendar year and will not work more than 25 pay periods. Jimmy Carter National Historical Park is in Plains, Georgia. Plains is a rural community in Southwest Georgia with full services available in Americus, GA (10 miles); Albany, GA (49 miles); and Macon, GA (65 miles).
