Due to continued growth and a strong order book, we are looking to recruit an experienced Manual Machinist to join their workshop team in Alloa.
This is an excellent opportunity for a time-served engineer who enjoys varied work, precision machining, and refurbishment projects within a busy and technically challenging environment.
The Role
As a Manual Machinist, you will be responsible for the manufacture and refurbishment of mechanical components from engineering drawings and samples, supporting the repair and overhaul of industrial equipment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Setting and operating manual lathes, milling machines, horizontal borers and vertical borers
- Manufacturing and refurbishing components to precise engineering tolerances
- Interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
- Working closely with engineers and workshop personnel to identify suitable repair methods
- Ensuring all machining work meets quality, safety and customer requirements
- Completing workshop documentation and inspection records accurately
- Supporting continuous improvement activities and maintaining excellent housekeeping standards
- Working safely and promoting a positive health and safety culture at all times
What We're Looking For
- Time-served Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent
- Strong manual machining experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment
- Proven experience operating manual lathes, milling machines, horizontal borers and vertical borers
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- High attention to detail with a focus on quality and accuracy
- Flexible and proactive approach to workshop activities
- Strong commitment to health, safety and continuous improvement
