Summary

This position serves as technical expert on complex issues related to collecting, depositing, tracking, and using fee revenue and public donations under federal laws. The employee is often the first point of contact for park visitors and provides guidance on challenging fee-program tasks, including improving work methods and automated systems. The role requires strict adherence to regulations governing government funds, and the employee represents the NPS in uniform as a front-line staff member.

Major Duties

At the full performance level (GS-07) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: Serve as a front-line, uniformed representative of the NPS, answering visitor questions and explaining the area's recreational opportunities, including NPS interpretive services, concession operated facilities and services, campground availability, hiking trails, etc. Perform assignments in accordance with all NPS and U.S. Treasury regulations governing the handling of government funds. Serve as a technical authority for the resolution of especially difficult or sensitive problems associated with the collection, remittance, and deposit of fee revenue and donations.
