We are an engineering and design services company servicing solar contractors across the country. Our project mix is around 85% residential and 15% commercial. The commercial projects we work on are generally under $2MM. Due to the accelerating trend of solar contractors outsourcing their design and engineering workflows, we are experiencing steady growth in headcount and revenue.
We are seeking a residential solar industry veteran who has years of experience both in the field (and on roofs) as well as designing solar systems. You know the entire solar job process from sales order to PTO in depth including how to troubleshoot any delay, dispute or situation that is causing jobs to get stuck. You possess the experience, expertise, communication skills, critical thinking skills, and relentlessly proactive mentality to work with any and all stakeholders in the process as needed and keep the job moving to completion.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Your objective is to keep average project duration of your assigned project queue of 75-125 active projects as low as possible. In order to accomplish this you may need to do any of the following:
- Analyze sometimes complex disputes between internal and external stakeholders, use critical thinking skills and persuasion to reach a resolution.
- Review site evaluation forms and pictures to ensure the proposed system can be installed
- Review plan sets including site plan, roof plan, single/three-line diagram, elevation views, equipment detail, array layout, wire runs and interconnection method, Single Line Diagram, and additional details for HOAs, etc.
- Work with stakeholders to make corrections as requested by AHJs or update/change plans as necessary
- Identify and diligently resolve design issues.
- Track and manage numerous projects by coordinating with multiple jurisdictions to meet requirements.
- Research building codes and plan implementation of new system design requirements.
- Review BOMs
Qualifications:
- Experience designing full permit packages
- Proficient in AutoCAD
- Use shade analysis to optimize system design
- Strong coordination, problem-solving, documentation and data entry skills.
- Extremely detail oriented with strong ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of National Electrical Code and local building codes.
- Experience designing different types of systems such as: roof-mounted, flat roof with tilt kits, ballasted, ground mount, TPM, etc.
- Experience with battery-backed up and ESS systems especially: SunPower SunVault and Tesla PowerWall
- Working knowledge of NEC
- Able to do wire and conduit sizing, voltage drop calculations, load calculations
- Working knowledge of electrical panels and common wiring schemes
- Create job site work instructions for the installation team
- NABCEP certification preferred but not required
- BS, EE or related engineering field preferred but not required

Salary: $136,760.59 - $150,240.63 per year
