T BAILEY LLC
Environmental Health & Safety Manager
Anacortes, WA | Full-Time | Field, Shop & Office
You know safety. Not just the regulations - though you know those too. You've walked job sites, spotted the hazard before it became an incident, and built the kind of safety culture where people actually own it. You've done the paperwork and the programs, but your real value is in the field, in the shop, and in the conversations that change behavior.
What you're looking for now is different.
You want to be embedded in a company that actually builds things - heavy industrial, structural steel, field-erected tanks - where safety isn't a corporate checkbox. You want to work alongside people who respect the work and take it seriously. You want influence over how things are done, not just authority to write reports about what went wrong.
That's T BAILEY.
We're a heavy civil and industrial contractor based in Anacortes, Washington. We self-perform critical scopes, fabricate in-house, and take on complex work - field-erected steel tanks, structural steel, and civil infrastructure. We've been doing it since 1991, and the standard here is high. Safety is part of how we protect that standard, and we need someone who gets that.
This isn't a desk-bound compliance role. It's not just auditing paperwork or sitting in on meetings. You'll be the EHS leader for both our shop fabrication and coating operations and field construction projects - and that means being present, visible, and hands-on.
On any given week, you'll:
- Develop, implement, and improve safety and health policies across the company - shop and field
- Investigate incidents and near-misses, get to the root cause, and build the fix that sticks
- Travel to job sites to conduct audits, deliver training, and be a safety presence where the work happens
- Lead and conduct safety training - and track who's certified, who's due, and who needs a refresher
- Coordinate environmental compliance: SWPPP, SARA Title III, NW Clean Air, Tier II reporting, spill response, and more
- Manage the OSHA 300 Log, prepare site-specific safety manuals, and respond to agency inspections
- Support industrial coatings operations - exposure controls, respiratory protection, ventilation, hygiene monitoring
- Run monthly safety committee, conduct weekly company safety meetings
- Partner with operations, project management, and HR to make sure EHS goals are wired into how the business runs
We regularly operate in Washington, Alaska, Oregon, Idaho, and Hawaii. You'll need to know what that means for multi-state compliance, workers' comp reporting, and staying current across different regulatory environments.
The People You'll Work With
Field Superintendents & Foremen
Experienced builders who already take safety seriously - that's the culture here. Your job isn't to convince them; it's to work alongside them. Show up, know the work, and make it easier to do things safely. That's the partnership, and it works because both sides are already pulling in the same direction.
The Fabrication & Industrial Coating Shop Team
Our in-house shop is a real advantage for T BAILEY - heavy plate steel, structural fabrication, coatings. You'll be coordinating safety directly in that environment, not just overseeing it from a distance.
Project Managers & Operations Leadership
PMs and ops leadership who want a safety partner, not a safety cop. When EHS and operations are aligned, projects go better. That's the working relationship here.
Company Leadership
Accessible and involved. You'll report directly to the VP, and good ideas don't get buried here. If something needs to change, you can make the case and get traction.
