About the role
We are currently recruiting for a Technical Manager to join a well-established and rapidly growing food manufacturing company based in the East of London.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Technical Manager or someone who is looking to develop their career within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.
You will be responsible for the management of a lean team as well as holding responsibility for BRC audits, QMS, traceability and complaints.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the site’s Food Safety & Quality Management System, ensuring compliance with BRCGS Food Safety standards and customer requirements.
- Oversee HACCP, GMP, hygiene, traceability, calibration, supplier approval, and food safety controls to ensure products are safe, legal, and meet specification.
- Manage internal audits, non-conformance investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and maintain full audit readiness for customer and third-party audits.
- Lead the Quality and Hygiene teams, promoting a strong food safety culture, continuous improvement, and high operational standards across the site.
- Work closely with Engineering and Operations to ensure equipment, maintenance, and production processes meet hygiene and food safety requirements.
- Act as the main technical contact for customers, auditors, and regulatory bodies, while overseeing complaint management, recall readiness, and incident response.
- Ensure effective training and competency of staff in GMP, hygiene, CCP monitoring, and food safety procedures.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing waste, improving compliance, strengthening corrective actions, and maintaining high hygiene and quality performance standards.
What we are looking for
- An experienced Technical or Quality professional with strong knowledge of food safety, HACCP, GMP, and BRCGS Food Safety standards.
- Someone capable of leading and developing Quality and Hygiene teams while promoting a proactive food safety and continuous improvement culture.
- A candidate with experience managing audits, non-conformances, corrective actions, traceability, supplier approval, and food safety systems within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, customers, and auditors.
- A detail-oriented individual who can maintain high standards of compliance, hygiene, and documentation while remaining calm under pressure.
- Someone confident managing customer, regulatory, and certification body relationships, with the ability to ensure the site remains audit-ready at all times.
