Overview
Scout’s infotainment apps are the digital heart of our vehicles—powering navigation, EV charging, media, HVAC, cameras, voice, connectivity, and vehicle controls. We’re looking for a Software Engineer to build Android/AOSP/AAOS apps, frameworks, and SDKs that deliver a seamless, Scout-branded HMI experience.
What you’ll do
Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:
- Design and implement Kotlin/Java Android apps and frameworks for infotainment
- Deliver features quickly using test-driven development
- Collaborate with UX, product, instrument cluster, and mobile teams to ensure end-to-end quality
- Contribute to architecture, code reviews, and team best practices
Location & Travel Expectations:
- This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Fremont, California.
- This role requires 4-5 days per week in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events.
- Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

- BS/MS degree in computer science or related field
- 10+ years of Android app development
- Expertise in Android OS, AOSP/AAOS, Kotlin/Java, and embedded app design
- Pragmatic problem-solver who thrives in ambiguity and drives high-quality solutions
- Excellent communicator and collaborator with a focus on quality and impact

Pay Transparency
This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
Initial base salary range = $180,000.00 - $220,000.00
Initial California base salary range = $198,000-$242,000
