Graphic Design Intern

The Toledo Zoo & Aquarium is currently seeking a Graphic Design Intern for the Fall/Spring term, with options to end in December 2026 or April 2027. Build your portfolio and get creative at one of the top zoos in the country!
The Graphic Design Intern will assist in visually supporting and enhancing our mission to: Enjoy. Inspire. Educate. Act. This position will be responsible for a range of projects, including but not limited to, print, digital, illustration, environmental design, purchase ordering, and production. They will assist in creating high-quality, visual content and be fully involved in the creative process through production. Projects created through this position will have the opportunity to be featured on Zoo grounds, events, social media platforms and toledozoo.org.
This position reports to the Director of Visual Communications and is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Minimum Training and Experience
- Must have completed at least one year in a graphic design or visual communications design undergraduate program
- Submit a resume and digital portfolio of projects from college courses or previous internship programs
- Proficient in an iMac environment, Adobe Creative Suite and Office 365
- Understands layout, typography, hierarchy and adhering to brand standards
- Ability to work on multiple projects under tight deadlines
- Excellent organization skills with digital filing systems
- Works well with a team and with others across multiple departments
- Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills
