With minimal supervision, the Production Workflow Specialist supports daily production line execution by coordinating people, materials, and information across shifts. This role ensures safe, efficient, and high-quality operations while aligning shift-level execution with short-term production plans, demand fluctuations, and inventory sustainability objectives. Job Description
Shift Coordination & Execution
Communicate work assignments, priorities, and shift turnover information to ensure continuity of operations
Perform pre-shift preparation and coordination to enable smooth shift start-ups
Prioritize and resolve shop floor issues impacting safety, quality, delivery, or productivity
Expedite parts, tools, and supplies to production teams as needed
Perform standard classification responsibilities when not engaged in coordination duties
Support Rapid Response Team activities as required
Safety, Quality & Compliance
Act as an overall safety observer; identify, correct, and escalate unsafe conditions or behaviors
Provide input to Operations Leaders and Cell Leaders on safety, quality, and productivity performance
Complete RFR inspections and ensure all GEID tags are scanned correctly
Ensure calibrated tooling is properly turned in and controlled
Coordinate efforts to ensure Bill of Material expectations are fulfilled and configuration management requirements are met
Production Planning & Demand Management
Support short-term production planning by translating production schedules and demand signals into executable shift-level priorities
Adjust daily and shift production execution in response to demand fluctuations, material availability, equipment constraints, and staffing levels
Coordinate with Operations Leaders to balance labor, overtime, and capacity needs in response to changes in demand
Identify risks to schedule adherence caused by demand variability or constraints and proactively recommend mitigation actions
Clearly communicate changes in priorities, sequencing, or output requirements to production teams and support functions Inventory Sustainability – Parts & Finished Goods
Monitor availability of critical parts, WIP, and finished goods to ensure sustainable inventory levels that support production and customer demand
Coordinate with Warehouse, Materials, Planning, and Operations teams to prevent line shortages, excess inventory, and unplanned accumulation of finished goods
Support FIFO execution and proper material rotation to maintain inventory health, quality, and traceability
Identify aging, excess, or at-risk materials and escalate concerns early to minimize obsolescence and waste
Assist in aligning production output with inventory targets, storage capacity, and material flow constraints Continuous Improvement & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Facilitate Kaizen and Lean initiatives and participate in report-outs and follow-up actions
Collaborate with EHS, Quality, Maintenance, Warehouse, Planning, and other support teams to resolve issues impacting production flow and performance
Participate in root cause analysis for missed schedules, material shortages, quality issues, or inventory imbalances
Provide feedback to Operations Leadership on recurring planning, demand, or material challenges affecting production stability
People Development & Communication
Identify employee training needs and coordinate scheduling with Operations Leaders
Support cross-training and skill development to improve workforce flexibility and responsiveness to demand changes
Interface effectively with all levels of the organization and promote clear, timely communication
