The Sr Staff Engineer in Renewable Engineering will perform engineering activities to support project development and assist with the technical design and evaluation of utility-scale solar projects in Invenergy’s target markets.
Duties and Responsibilities
Screen prospective solar projects to identify potential risks and value
Define project constraints and buildable area considering existing infrastructure, topography, hydrology, and subsurface ground conditions
Prepare conceptual project layouts. Optimize layouts to maximize project value.
Analyze available meteorological datasets and apply long-term correlation to assess project resource characteristics
Estimate project annual energy production, energy uncertainty, energy probability values, and time-based production profiles
Conduct site visits to assess site suitability, participate in landowner meetings and community outreach events, and participate in monthly construction meetings.
Assist with federal, state, county, and local permitting efforts
Support the preparation of project sales proposals
Support project financing by responding to lender and independent engineer due diligence questions
Interface with the Project Management, Project Electrical Engineering, and Operations teams leading up to and through project commercial operations
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or related technical discipline including but not limited to Physics and Atmospheric Science. Master’s Degree is a plus.
2-4+ years of related experience in the renewable energy industry
Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Open to occasional travel.
Valid Driver's License.
Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in an engineering or other relevant science discipline is a plus
Familiarity with resource and energy modeling software including PVsyst and SAM
Familiarity with site design tools including AutoCAD and GIS software
Knowledge of meteorological data sources, long term correlation methods, and other statistical analysis
Knowledge of energy project economics and familiarity with concepts such as NPV, IRR and LCOE
Ability to multi-task and manage deliverables for multiple projects at a time
Excellent verbal, writing, and interpersonal skills
Desire to work in a dynamic environment alongside people with multiple interests and backgrounds
$85,000.00 - $108,000.00 USD Annual
Bonus: 15%
The base pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for the position. Invenergy considers a number of factors when determining base pay offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education and skills.
