The Fulton Hogan Life
Life at Fulton Hogan is about making the most of the opportunities, taking responsibility, having a crack, being accountable and making it happen. We live by our REAL values – Respect, Energy & Effort, Attitude, Leadership – and we demonstrate these through the good work we do, every day, as one team.
Nau mai haere mai ki tā mātou whānau | Welcome to our Fulton Hogan Family
You’re an experienced environmental professional who loves getting out on site, having straight‑up conversations, and helping people do the right thing for the environment while still getting the job done. We are looking for two Senior Environmental Advisors for our Major Projects and Civil (heavy civil/structures) teams.
Both roles are based in Auckland, however travel and occasional time away from home may be required.
You’ll be the go‑to person for practical, solutions‑focused advice across the full project lifecycle – from tenders and early contractor involvement through to on‑site delivery and close‑out. You’ll translate complex requirements into clear, actionable guidance, building strong relationships with crews, managers and clients along the way.
Core Focus Areas:
- Lead the development, roll‑out and continuous improvement of environmental management plans, making sure the “why” and the “how” are clearly understood on site.
- Coach project teams and leaders to lift their environmental performance through confident communication, toolbox talks, training and everyday conversations.
- Build lasting, trusted relationships with clients, regulators, mana whenua and other stakeholders by listening well, fronting up early to issues, and getting the right message across – even when the conversations are tough.

At Fulton Hogan, we genuinely care about the wellbeing of our people and giving them the tools and opportunities they need to succeed and grow with us.
We’re looking for someone with:
- 5+ years’ practical experience in environmental and sustainability management in construction (or similar), and a relevant tertiary qualification in environmental management, sustainability, engineering or planning is preferred.
- A proven knack for turning technical environmental requirements into clear, down‑to‑earth messages that make sense to crews, supervisors and senior managers.
- Strong relationship‑building skills – you’re comfortable fronting up on site, in meetings and with external stakeholders, and you know how to have honest conversations that build trust and provide solutions.
- A “get stuck in” attitude – you put safety first, think ahead, solve problems practically, and you can “push pause” when something’s not right.
Creating, Connecting and caring for the community
Our people regularly donate their time to local causes and initiatives, while at a regional and national level we provide financial support, skills and resources to a wide range of organisations that are strengthening our communities. Our focus aims to also reduce our impact on the environment, and regenerate healthy new ecosystems. We look to partner with others to lift the standards of our industry and show customers lower‑impact, sustainable ways of delivering infrastructure.
If you’re after a rigid hierarchy and a perfectly predictable day, we’re probably not for you. If you want to be trusted, backed and challenged in a flat, friendly, forward‑moving team where good work gets noticed, we’d love to hear from you.
