Summary
These positions are located in Fire Island National Seashore, in the Maintenance Division. The primary purpose of these positions is to perform laboring duties that require moderately heavy physical effort using common hand tools and power equipment. Duties include operating light duty motor vehicles. The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period is Apr-May but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Major Duties
Operate heavy power equipment and hand and light power tools to maintain buildings, grounds, roads, and trails. Load, unload, and move supplies, materials, furniture, and equipment; perform tasks such as setting signs, painting, landscaping, and litter removal. Perform grounds and maintenance work including trimming vegetation, cleaning and repairing fire pits, and conducting janitorial duties as needed. Conduct basic construction and repair tasks such as digging, grading, breaking pavement, and mixing and pouring concrete or asphalt. Operate light-duty motor vehicles up to 10,000 pounds over various road conditions to transport personnel, materials, and equipment, including towing and performing minor maintenance.
