Purpose/Scope
Responsible for the planning, implementation and supervision of environmental, health, and safety programs so that Fabcon follows legal and regulatory requirements and provides a safe and healthy place to work.â¯
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist management in the development of overall environmental, health, and safety program for plant and field operationsâ¯
- Control hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee activities through safety management and trainingâ¯
- Develop and implement employee safety orientation and training programsâ¯
- Conduct work area inspections and major incident investigationsâ¯
- Document all accidents, safety violations, unsafe conditions and accident investigation reportsâ¯
- Review documentation to ensure all required records and reports are complete, accurate, and submitted per established procedures, and implement corrective action as requiredâ¯
- Assist in preparing written appeals for safety violation citationsâ¯
- Perform safety auditsâ¯
- Conduct the loss control data/documentation collectionâ¯
- Ensure maintenance of major safety equipmentâ¯
- Coordinate return to work/modified duty programâ¯
- Investigate accidents and injuries and preparing materials for company use in worker’s compensation proceedingsâ¯
- Audit and complete environmental report i.e. Storm Water Permit, Air Quality Permit, etc.â¯
- Ensure that company facilities and practices are in compliance with government safety regulationsâ¯
- Lead and conduct safety audit and conduct follow-up inspection for compliance at all facilities and job sitesâ¯
- Audit employee training records and advise training as necessaryâ¯
- Issue safety equipment and conduct safety training programsâ¯
- Conduct training sessions for employees and managersâ¯
- Influence the closure of environmental issues with the local management teamâ¯
- Develop action plans to address safety issues and environmental complianceâ¯
- Make recommendations to senior management regarding compliance to local, state, and federal regulatory industriesâ¯
- Ensure adherence to safety standards in all areas and departments and advise management on needed actionsâ¯
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by reading and attending continuing education workshops for safety and environmental professionalsâ¯
- Partners with the Risk Coordinator and HR to drive compliance with Fabcon’s drug testing programâ¯
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in the health and safety fieldâ¯
- Good presentation and training skillsâ¯
- Good people skills with excellent written and verbal communication skillsâ¯
- Ability to develop and implement environment and safety programsâ¯
- Ability to establish and maintain record keeping in compliance with all company and regulatory agenciesâ¯
- Able to set high standards and get resultsâ¯
- Ability to lead, motivate and influence with and without direct authorityâ¯
- Strong situational analysis skills, to identify problems and solutionsâ¯
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and e-mail)â¯
- Good knowledge of state, federal, and local laws pertaining to the general industry and construction industryâ¯
- Understanding of county and state environmental compliance issues in all areas that Fabcon produces and erectsâ¯
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified safety professional and/or safety degree preferredâ¯
- Associates degree or higher in an environmental, health or safety discipline
- One to three years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial or construction environment

- Ability to travelâ¯
- Office: Move 25lbs (not for all jobs, reasonable accommodations will be made), work with a computer for extended periods of timeâ¯â¯
- Plant/Yard (periodic): Move minimum of 50lbs., spatial awareness/depth perception, walk, climb, bend at the waist, reach, forceful use of hand tools, vocal projection
Work Environment
- This position works in office and plant environments with occasional travel and visits to field construction sitesâ¯
- Office: Quiet with some ambient noise, climate controlled, fluorescent lightingâ¯â¯
- Plant/Yard: All types of weather conditions (year-round, Mid-west and Northeast), dirt/dust, noise from heavy machinery/vehicles, vibrations from machinery and vehicles, loud noises, little to no climate control, varying amounts of light, stairs, narrow walkwaysâ¯
This position has an anticipated salary range of $80,000 - $105,000 annually. Actual compensation will depend on experience, skills, internal equity, and business needs.
