Job Summary:
This is an amazing opportunity to join the Jekyll Island Authority Marketing & Communications team! Under the supervision of the Creative Director and in collaboration with the Jekyll Island Authority (JIA) marketing department, the Graphic Designer is responsible for producing high-quality, consistent branding to support Jekyll Island and its amenities. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and time-management skills and demonstrate a proven record of effective visual communication. Must be self-motivated and have the ability to interact with vendors and all levels of internal staff with high professionalism.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Consistently apply and enforce brand standards to ensure that Jekyll Island and its amenities are well-represented in all communications.
- Design print, digital and out-of-home communications.
- Update and refine existing marketing collateral for internal and external use, including individual JIA amenities and departments.
- Assist with the ongoing creation of social and digital media assets.
- Effectively evaluating and managing external vendor relationships, including proofreaders, printers, and media agencies.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to achieve creative goals.
- Contribute to experiential marketing executions, like exhibits and events.
- Support island-wide wayfinding and signage needs.
- Must be able to follow directions and handle corrections quickly and efficiently.
- Organize and manage ongoing document/photography libraries and archives.
- Maintain working files in a well-organized fashion.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree from an accredited institution in graphic design, advertising, or related field with a minimum of two (2) years of related experience is required. Agency experience preferred. OR
- High school diploma or recognized equivalent with a minimum of five (5) years of related experience.
- Portfolio demonstrating technical production skills and a keen eye for design.
- Knowledge of design principles, including layout, typography, color, balance, composition, and current design trends.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office.
- Strong understanding of print production and file set-up.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Meticulous attention to detail and ability to catch all mistakes while preparing files.
- Basic knowledge of HTML is a plus.
- Exceptional collaboration and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
- Exert up to 35 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
- More than 50% of the typical workday will be spent sitting; however, certain periods will require more than 50% of the day spent walking and standing.
- Less than 25% of the day is generally spent stooping; bending the body downward and forward at the waist, and crouching; bending the body downward and forward by bending the leg and spine. Specific periods will require more than 25% of the day stooping and crouching.
- Must have visual clarity for close-range work, such as computer use and reading, and distance, such as operating motor vehicles and determining the assigned work's accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness.
- Sensory abilities required include vision, touching, and feeling, with more than 50% of the day spent communicating, including talking and hearing.
- Primarily will work indoors; however, they may be required to perform work both inside and outside—exposure to extreme heat, high humidity, occasionally adverse weather conditions, and occasional extreme cold.
- May be exposed to hazards such as moving vehicles.
- Noise levels are considered normal to loud, and will be subjected to loud, above the ambient noise levels.
