The successful candidate will take full operational responsibility for the stores environment, including:
Stock Control & Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate stock records and oversee all stock control processes.
- Monitor stock levels and initiate procurement requests where required.
- Ensure correct stock tagging, identification, and traceability of materials.
- Manage stock counts, cycle counts, and periodic full stocktakes.
- Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies.
- Ensure materials are stored correctly and safely.
Receiving & Incoming Materials
- Oversee the receiving and inspection of incoming materials.
- Verify deliveries against purchase orders and supplier documentation.
- Ensure proper quality checks and tagging of materials before acceptance.
- Capture goods received notes (GRNs) accurately within the system.
Issuing & Material Control
- Manage the accurate issuing of materials to workshop and project teams.
- Ensure traceability of materials issued to specific projects or jobs.
- Maintain discipline around material control and documentation.
Stores Organisation & Housekeeping
- Maintain a well-organised, clearly structured stores environment.
- Implement and enforce high standards of housekeeping, safety, and material storage.
- Ensure all stock is clearly labelled, stored logically, and easily accessible.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Drive the implementation and continuous improvement of stores systems and automation.
- Work with management to improve inventory tracking and operational efficiency.
- Develop and implement improved stores procedures and controls.
- Ensure accurate system capturing and reporting of stock movements.
Team Leadership
- Supervise and guide stores staff where applicable.
- Manage team members in a mature, respectful, and inclusive manner.
- Lead by example with a hands-on work ethic.
- Ensure staff follow correct stores procedures and maintain discipline within the stores environment.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with engineering, production, procurement, and project teams.
- Communicate effectively to ensure materials are available when required.
- Build strong working relationships across departments.
