Role description:
With a growing pipeline of diverse project work covering site remediation, firefighting foam transition, and other environmental engineering projects, we have a new opportunity for a Senior Environmental Consultant/Chemical Engineer to join our National Environmental Restoration (Contaminated Land) team. The role will also include support for other Arcadis teams requiring chemical and process engineering skills.
Joining a growing team, you will have the opportunity to take on projects independently while collaborating with our technical directors to deliver a range of medium to large scale projects both locally and nationally. The position will include opportunities to work on international projects and participate in Global Communities of Practice.
Role accountabilities:
- Work across a broad range of contaminated land project types including public infrastructure and commercial/industrial
- Provide engineering and other technical support to water and wastewater treatment projects, including but not limited to water, wastewater, groundwater, leachate and trade waste PFAS treatment
- Undertake environmental engineering tasks including site inspection, contractor management, design and implementation of sampling programs, and remedial options assessment and design including impacted soil, groundwater, and concrete, as well as fire piping systems and other PFAS impacted infrastructure
- Produce technical reports and scope of works and cost estimates for proposals to clients
- Take project management responsibility for current small to medium projects, with larger projects on the horizon including co-ordination of field investigations, sub-contractors and reporting
- Support business development through contribution to proposals and bids
- Take an active role in managing client relationships, both within the business and with key clients
- Collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams and clients to ensure project integrity and success.
Qualifications & Experience:
First and foremost, you share our passion for improving quality of life. You have a highly regarded base of contaminated land and environmental engineering experience in government and private sectors and come to us with:
- Tertiary qualifications in chemical or environmental (or other relevant) engineering
- Minimum of five years of experience working as a chemical engineer
- Experience in process design and implementation of contaminated land remediation and water/wastewater treatment projects
- Experience with PFAS remediation and treatment is preferred
- Fundamental understanding of state and national environmental regulatory guidance
- Experience with site work and oversight of contractors with a well-developed understanding protection of health, safety, and the environment
- Demonstrated success in delivering projects to budget and program
- Proven ability with technical aspects of proposal and report writing
- Experience in a consultancy environment and managing key client relationships.
