PavCo is hiring a Sustainability Manager to lead the integration of sustainable practices across events and operations, driving measurable environmental performance and advancing organizational stewardship.
Reporting to the Senior Energy and Sustainability Manager, the Sustainability Manager is responsible for advancing environmental stewardship across events and operations. This role leads the integration of sustainable practices into planning and execution, supports data-driven performance tracking and reporting, and engages internal and external stakeholders to drive continuous improvement and alignment with industry standards.
What You Will Do
Lead the development and execution of sustainability strategies across events, with a focus on responsible sourcing, waste reduction, and circular practices.
Act as the subject matter expert, integrating sustainability into all phases of event planning, including procurement, design, logistics, operations, and post-event evaluation.
Establish and maintain partnerships with venues, vendors, and stakeholders to align on sustainability objectives and operational standards.
Lead environmental stewardship working groups to drive collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Oversee the tracking, analysis, and reporting of utility and waste data, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and alignment with ESG frameworks and regulatory requirements.
Support certification processes and compliance for standards such as LEED, TRUE, and ISO 20121, including data collection and recertification.
Contribute to greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting and the development of performance metrics to inform decision-making.
Evaluate sustainability initiatives and recommend improvements to enhance environmental performance.
Serve as the primary liaison with clients, partners, and community groups to advance sustainability objectives and share best practices.
Provide guidance, training, and support to internal teams, and develop engagement initiatives to increase awareness and participation.
Partner with Communications to deliver sustainability-related content across internal channels.
Promote active transportation and identify opportunities to optimize energy use and reduce waste within operations.
Support additional sustainability initiatives and projects as required.
What You Will Bring
A degree in Environmental Science, Geography, Urban Forestry, Resource Conservation, or a related discipline.
3–5 years of experience in sustainability, environmental management, and/or event operations.
Strong knowledge of sustainability reporting frameworks, data tracking, and performance measurement.
Experience supporting or managing certification programs (e.g., LEED, TRUE, ISO 20121) and GHG reporting processes.
Demonstrated ability to engage and influence cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
Strong communication, analytical, and presentation skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and cloud-based applications.
Professional certifications such as Zero Waste Advisor, SEPC, or CSEMP are considered an asset.
The salary range for this position is $68,658 - $85,822
