Job Title: Trainee Renewables Inspection Engineer (Wind Energy Sector)
Location: Great Yarmouth - (Workshop based, commutable to Great Yarmouth each day / Offshore Travel Required once fully trained.
About the Role
Following continued growth, Certex UK are recruiting Trainee Renewables Inspection Engineers to join our expanding team within the Wind Energy Sector.
This is an excellent opportunity for an 18+ candidate starting their engineering career who has recently completed a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering college course and is looking to develop specialist skills in the renewable energy industry.
The successful applicants will join our Lifting Solutions Group, the largest lifting organisation in Europe, comprising 22 companies with over 100 locations worldwide, including the USA, Australia and Taiwan.
The role will involve statutory inspections of equipment contained within wind turbines, both onshore and offshore, ensuring compliance with LOLER, PUWER and PSSR regulations. You must be prepared to travel throughout the UK and Europe as part of this role once fully trained.
Full specialist training will be provided to develop you into a qualified Renewables Inspection Engineer.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in carrying out statutory inspections of lifting and safety equipment within wind turbines.
- Support inspections in accordance with LOLER, PUWER and PSSR regulations.
- Conduct testing and inspection of equipment using specialist tools and instruments.
- Accurately document inspection results and produce reports.
- Work both independently and as part of a team on wind energy sites across the UK and Europe.
- Maintain high standards of health, safety and compliance in all working environments.

Education & Qualifications
- Minimum age: 18 years old
- Mechanical or Electrical Engineering college training background (essential)
- Minimum GCSE Grade 4/5 above in Maths & English
- Full Uk Driving License

- GWO Training
- OGUK Medical & Chester Step Test
- LEEA Qualification or equivalent
- OEM Training on Service Lifts
- PSSR Training (examination of minor and intermediate systems within wind turbines)
- Davit Crane Training
- Electric Hoists Training
- Turbine Mounted Safety Equipment Training
- Fire Extinguisher Servicing Training
Technical Knowledge (Desirable but Not Essential)
- Understanding of inspection processes on wind turbine equipment
- Knowledge of LOLER, PUWER and PSSR regulations
- Strong awareness of Health & Safety practices
- Understanding of the risk assessment process
Experience
- Mechanical or Electrical Engineering college training background (essential)
- Industry experience is not essential – full training will be provided.
