The Opportunity: The National Coordinator for Property Sustainability will provide providing administrative, operational and technical administration and support to the Regional Property Sustainability Managers across Canada for their portfolios of office, industrial, retail, and residential properties. The position requires a highly organized individual who has excellent computer skills, a passion for sustainable building operations as well as an eye for detail and accuracy. They must be able to work in a fast-paced environment to adapt and maintain standardized procedures, assets, directories, and resources. Coordinating both on-site and remotely with team members in multiple provinces will be required, and the individual will report directly to the National Vice President of Operational Excellence, Sustainability & Technical Services.
This position is available in Montreal, QC, Vancouver, BC or Toronto, ON.
What You Will Do:
- Provide administrative support and coordination to the National Vice President of Operational Excellence, Sustainability & Technical Services and the National Property Sustainability team.
- Certification Support - Support Sustainability Managers and Property Management Teams with Sustainability Certification Submissions through the creation and maintenance of resources, templates and tools that ensure continued alignment with the latest certification requirements. (LEED, Energy Star, BOMA, WELL, and Fitwel) Track building certifications, audits, and studies completed nationally, and notify appropriate teams of upcoming expiries. Provide additional certification support as required.
- Standard Creation and Maintenance - Assist and support in the adaptation, standardization, and implementation of National Sustainability Policy, Procedure, and Communication Guidelines based on established documentation, applicable laws, regulations, and building certification standards. (Energy Star, BOMA, LEED, WELL, Fitwel) Organize and maintain a robust and accessible library of these sustainability resources for Property Management teams.
- Tenant Communications Plans – Coordinate the implementation of tenant communication plans, including ForeverGreen, ForeverWell, and Utility Data Outreach in line with regulatory and certification requirements. Adapt and update materials, and provide support to property teams in the distribution of these materials to the appropriate recipients.
- Sustainability Training Resources - Coordinate and Administer National Sustainability Training programs, covering topics such as completion of Benchmarking Surveys and use of the BGO Sustainability Platform. Assist ESG Leads with the creation, maintenance, and annual review of additional ESG trainings as required.
- Sustainability-Related Technology Platform Support - Support and provide ongoing maintenance for sustainability-related technology platforms, such as Visitt, Cambio, Energy Star, BORIS, Kinglsey Surveys, etc.
- Provide support in drafting, coordination, and submission for both provincial and national sustainability award nominations as required.
- General additional support for the National Property Sustainability Team as required.
Who You Are:
- Education - High school diploma supplemented with post-secondary courses, or Building Owners and Managers Institute certification (BOMI).
- Experience - 2 to 3 years relevant experience in similar sustainability or administration-related field.
- Experience in real estate operations, management and/or sustainability is a definite asset.
- Communication & Relationship Skills - Very strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills to interact with property teams, sustainability managers, owners, vendors, and other internal staff.
- Organizational & Tasking Skills - Strong organizational, analytical and evaluative skills; able to manage multiple priorities, tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Computer Skills - High proficiency in operating systems’ word processing and spreadsheets, being able to organize and analyze large quantities of data, and coordinate streamlining, standardization, and maintenance of programs and initiatives.
- Sustainability Industry Accreditation (LEED AP, CEM, etc.) is an asset.
- A criminal verification check is required for employment
The Expected Base Pay Range: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year. The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. BGO values the contribution of our employees and our compensation structure may vary based on the geographical location of successful candidates, as well as their experience, skills or qualifications. In addition to base pay, eligible BGO employees participate in various incentive compensation plans, based on individual and business performance as well as a broad range of competitive benefits.
