Technical Asset Manager, Utility-Scale Solar Operations & Maintenance - Full-Time
SkyFire Energy is seeking a highly motivated and capable team member to join our growing O&M division. In this role you will be working with an experienced team in a fast-paced environment on exciting projects, both large and small, that make positive impacts in the communities with which we work. You will manage and operate a portfolio of utility-scale solar projects where you will be responsible for a wide variety of project-specific technical and administrative tasks.
The candidate best suited to this position will have the ability to efficiently and effectively manage a consistent, and at times heavy workload, while thriving in a self-directed work environment. The candidate will have utility-scale electrical experience and competencies with the ability to communicate effectively with team members and clients in a professional, yet personable manner. Candidates should be able to demonstrate a passion for renewable energy and the renewable energy industry; along with progressive workplace experience and accountability in a previous role(s).
Primary duties include:
- Monitoring of real-time system performance
- Troubleshooting faults and underperformance
- Respond to system alarms
- Remote system control and switching
- Analysis, quantification and logging of equipment/system underperformance and outages
- Monitoring and logging of curtailment, availability, and compliance
- Management and coordination of on-site maintenance activities
- CMMS management
- O&M contract, and subcontractor management
- Client and stakeholder relations, including development of quotes and invoices
- Leadership in the safe operations and maintenance of solar PV systems
- Technical reporting of performance and operational-based data and KPIs
Requirements:
- Experience in the operation of utility-scale generation/power systems
- Project management skills and experience
- Familiarity with solar and battery storage systems
- Strong communication, organizational, and technical abilities
- Technologist Diploma or Engineering Degree (Electrical is preferred) or Journeyperson Electrician Certificate
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
Assets:
- IT/OT, industrial networking and SCADA programming experience
- SEL Relay experience
- Experience in a control center/ROC environment
- NERC standards experience
- PVSyst and experience with performance analysis
- Solar/battery storage-specific OEM experience
- Preference will be given to candidates located in Calgary, Edmonton or Kelowna
