The Environmental Project Officer will play a crucial role in supporting the environmental management of Council's Water and Sewer asset construction and renewal projects. This position involves providing quality customer service while creating value for the community through effective environmental solutions.
This role will see you managing specialist environmental consultants, reviewing environmental assessments, conducting site inspections, and ensuring compliance with relevant environmental legislation.
Key activities of this role include:
- Manage specialist environmental consultants, laboratory and environmental engineering services to improve environmental outcomes
- Review and monitor REF, EIS, CEMP's and other environmental assessments for compliance duties
- Provide specialist advise regarding environmental assessment and support investigatory processes as required

Essential Criteria:
- a Diploma in Project Management, Environmental Management or related field OR demonstrated solid contemporary experience in a similar role, combined with ongoing professional development
- a current Class C Drivers Licence
- a valid Construction General Induction Card - NSW SafeWork or equivalent
- previous experience working on projects managing environmental risks and infrastructure projects working in close vicinity to environmentally significant areas
- the ability to identify in the field native and introduced flora, threatened species and endangered ecological communities as listed in the Schedules of the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2017
- demonstrated experience managing the coordination of contractor supervision, ensuring compliance with environmental legislation and Council policy
- the ability to recognise and understand possible likely environmental impacts and implement management action to eliminate or reduce environmental impacts
- demonstrated experience in dealing with ecological assessment under NSW and Commonwealth environmental legislation
- experience in the inspection of field work, compilation, and review of Environmental Assessments including EIS, REF, and CEMP's
- project management skills and a practical ability to manage and deliver projects and/ or application.
