Overview

The Electrical Engineer works in collaboration with the Lead Electrical Engineer to provide technical assurance, design oversight, and execution support<\/b> across renewable energy projects. The role spans development, transaction, construction, and commissioning phases, ensuring electrical designs and installations meet client requirements, grid compliance, safety standards, and project timelines.

Responsibilities
<\/h3>
Prepare electrical designs, drawings, and cost estimates during development and transaction phases
<\/p><\/li>
Compile electrical cost inputs for financial models and bid submissions
<\/p><\/li>
Produce electrical bid deliverables for tenders and project submissions
<\/p><\/li>
Compile and review RFP / RFQ documentation, including drawings, specifications, and returnable schedules
<\/p><\/li>
Evaluate tender returnables and support contractor selection
<\/p><\/li>
Review detailed AFC electrical designs prepared by consultants and contractors
<\/p><\/li>
Liaise with external electrical engineering consultants and contractors
<\/p><\/li>
Support electrical site supervisors and construction managers during construction
<\/p><\/li>
Oversee and support site acceptance testing and commissioning activities
<\/p><\/li>
Ensure compliance with client requirements, safety regulations, and grid codes
<\/p><\/li>
Identify electrical technical risks and implement mitigation measures
<\/p><\/li>
Provide ongoing technical assurance across all project phases
<\/p><\/li>
Work collaboratively with Development, Transactions, ESG, and Asset Management teams to support financial close and COD delivery

Requirements
<\/h3>
Qualifications & Experience<\/b>
<\/p>
BSc Electrical Engineering / BEng (Electrical) or National Diploma (Electrical Engineering)
<\/p><\/li>
Minimum 5 years’ experience (BSc/BEng) or 4 years’ experience (NDip) in electrical engineering
<\/p><\/li>
Minimum 3 years’ experience on renewable energy projects
<\/p><\/li><\/ul>
Technical Skills & Knowledge<\/b>
<\/p>
Short -circuit, load -flow, cable sizing, and grounding grid calculations (IEEE 80)
<\/p><\/li>
Experience with power system software such as ETAP, DIgSILENT, NEPLAN, INTEGRA, or similar
<\/p><\/li>
Strong understanding of renewable energy generation and grid interaction
<\/p><\/li>
Understanding of transmission, distribution, and grid connection works
<\/p><\/li>
Knowledge of the South African Grid Code
<\/p><\/li>
Experience with quality control and technical assurance processes
<\/p><\/li>
Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
<\/p><\/li><\/ul>
