About the Role

Are you already working in the solar industry, or are you an Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Mechatronics or related engineering student/graduate looking to build your career in renewable energy?

We are recruiting Technical Support Agents for a growing renewable energy business in Cape Town.

This is a customer-facing technical support role, not a field installation position. You’ll help customers understand and troubleshoot their solar systems remotely, using your technical knowledge, logical problem-solving skills and ability to explain technical information clearly.

It’s an excellent opportunity for someone who is curious about how solar systems work and wants to develop deeper expertise in solar PV, inverters, batteries, system performance and renewable-energy technology.

What You’ll Do

Provide first-line technical support to customers experiencing solar system issues
Troubleshoot solar PV systems, inverters, batteries and system performance remotely
Analyse system information and monitoring data to identify potential faults or performance issues
Guide customers through technical checks and explain solutions clearly and patiently
Assist customers with apps, monitoring platforms and system settings
Investigate technical queries logically before escalating more complex issues
Escalate unresolved issues to the appropriate technical team while maintaining ownership through to resolution
Communicate with customers via phone, email and other support channels
Maintain accurate records of customer queries, troubleshooting steps and resolutions
Work closely with internal technical and operational teams to resolve customer issues

What We’re Looking For

You should meet at least one of the following:

Solar industry experience – ideally with exposure to solar PV systems, inverters, batteries, monitoring, technical support, commissioning, maintenance or troubleshooting

Engineering studies/qualification – Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, Renewable Energy, Power Systems or another relevant technical field.

Previous customer-facing or technical support experience would be advantageous, but is not essential for engineering students or graduates.

You’ll Thrive If You…

Enjoy troubleshooting, solving problems and understanding how technical systems work
Can explain technical information clearly to customers
Are comfortable working with systems, apps and technical data
Are thorough, accurate and take ownership through to resolution
Have a genuine interest in solar, energy and technology
Want to build a career in the renewable-energy industry
Are based in Cape Town or can commute reliably to Observatory
Are comfortable working fully office-based, Monday–Friday, 08:00–17:00
