OVERVIEW
We are seeking a Product Manager to own the evolution of this EV charging platform across both hardware and software, driving roadmap strategy and execution in a fast-growing, mission-critical environment.
This role sits at the intersection of Sales, Engineering, Operations, and Leadership, translating market needs into a clear, prioritized roadmap and ensuring successful delivery of new products, features, and services.
This is a hands-on role for someone who can operate comfortably in a hardware + software + energy environment and who is excited by the opportunity to apply AI and data-driven insights to a mission-critical infrastructure platform.We have a strong preference for candidates with a background in clean tech, especially EV charging.
- Location: This is a remote-first position that will require some time on-site (based on the business need).
- Compensation: $120,000 – $140,000 base salary
- Eligibility: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (No C2C or sponsorship)
RESPONSIBILITIES
Product Strategy & Roadmap
- Own and evolve the product roadmap across a cloud-based EV charging platform and charger hardware
- Balance customer needs, engineering capacity, platform scalability, hardware capabilities, and long-term architecture
- Incorporate AI/ML opportunities to:
- Improve charger uptime and fault prediction
- Reduce operating and support costs
- Optimize charging schedules based on usage patterns and energy pricing
- Define success metrics (KPIs) for new features and track post-launch performance
Customer & Market Understanding
- Partner closely with Sales and Operations to deeply understand customer use cases across:
- Fleet charging (private and government)
- Multi-family residential charging
- Public / paid charging environments
- Translate real-world constraints (power availability, TOU pricing, uptime expectations, reporting needs) into product requirements
- Conduct customer interviews, analyze usage data, and review support insights to inform prioritization
Cross-Functional Execution
- Act as the primary interface between Engineering and the rest of the business
- Develop clear product documentation (PRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria)
- Work with Engineering to plan releases, manage scope, and make informed tradeoffs
- Ensure alignment between software releases and hardware capabilities
Hardware Development & Production

Define high-level specifications for Level 2 and DC fast charging products

Support integration strategies with energy infrastructure (renewables, battery storage, grid constraints)

Manage hardware development lifecycle including:

Product development

Certification (UL, ISO, IEEE, Energy Star)

Production readiness and post-production support (e.g., component obsolescence)
Software Development Lifecycle
- Understand and actively participate in agile development processes
- Manage backlog grooming, sprint planning input, and release readiness
- Ensure features are delivered on time, tested, documented, and ready for deployment
- Coordinate feature rollouts, beta programs, and phased deployments when appropriate
Business & Financial Acumen
- Understand the commercial impact of product decisions, including:
- Pricing and monetization
- Cost to support and operate
- Opportunities for new service offerings
- Impact on gross margin and customer retention
- Partner with leadership to evaluate build vs. buy decisions and ROI of major initiatives
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of experience as a Product Manager or similar role in:
- SaaS platforms, energy tech, IoT, EV infrastructure, or industrial software
- Proven ability to work effectively between Sales and Engineering
- Strong understanding of software and hardware development lifecycles and agile methodologies
- Experience translating complex customer needs into clear, actionable product requirements for both software and hardware
- Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and how they can be applied to reliability, forecasting, or optimization problems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strongly Preferred
- Experience with:
- EV charging systems, energy management, or grid-constrained environments
- Fleet management or enterprise B2B SaaS
- Time-of-use energy pricing or demand management
- Experience working with hardware-enabled software platforms (IoT, embedded systems)
