DescriptionOVERVIEW:
This role acts as a safety specialist for one or more of our distribution centers. As a specialist you will be in daily direct contact with line-level associates and line management at the location(s) of your assignment, to guide them in all facets of occupational health and safety. You will ensure compliance with all federal and state regulatory bodies as well as our corporate safety policies. You will champion our safety culture at the site.
Within this role you will assess risks at the job site, work with the site on mitigation strategies, be part of all incident investigations on site to find root causation, train employees on health and safety, conduct safety onboarding, conduct inspections, make safety observations, and work with the area safety lead on projects that affect the site.
ResponsibilitiesRESPONSIBILITIES:
- Planning your health and safety program and protocols.
- Teaching supervisors, managers and other site leaders about health and safety standards and procedures.
- Presenting safety training sessions.
- Understanding and ensuring compliance with OSHA, federal and state regulations.
- Completing risk assessments to gather information on safety issues.
- Verifying that employees consistently follow safety protocols.
- Analyzing health and safety data.
- Reviewing and recommending changes to regular activities to ensure workplace safety.
- Conducting site inspections or audits.
- Reviewing safety observations.
- Other duties deemed necessary by line manager.
QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 3-5+ years’ experience within workplace safety. Preferably in logistics, warehousing, or supply chain industry.
- Relevant certifications in safety are a plus.
- OSHA 30-hour training.
- Preferred: OSHA authorized trainer.
- First Aid / CPR certified.
SKILLS:
- Attention to detail.
- Critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills.
The typical starting salary range for this position is: $50,400 - $72,000.
The actual salary offer will take into account multiple factors including skills, experience, education and location. Please note that the salary details listed in role postings reflect the base salary only, not total compensation, which includes bonus and benefits.

Work Location Requirement – APL Logistics:
Employees residing within 25 miles of an APL Logistics Hub Office (AZ, FL, MI, NC, OR) are required to follow a designated Hybrid schedule as described below: Fully on-site, or fully remote schedules are determined based on role and business needs.
• Hybrid employees must report to the office 8 days per month, scheduled by their supervisor.
• Warehouse roles are typically fully on-site.
• Candidates outside the 25-mile radius may be considered for fully remote roles, depending on business needs.
Remote work requires full compliance with company policies, including workspace standards, timekeeping, and communication protocols. Commuting costs are not reimbursed. Adherence to this policy is a condition of employment.
