Job Description
We are looking for a highly experienced Sustainability Manager to lead the environmental strategy for a major new data center development in Lisbon, Portugal.
This role offers the opportunity to shape a flagship project from design through delivery, driving best‑in‑class sustainable solutions and ensuring full compliance with national and international standards.
You will work at the heart of the project, collaborating closely with the client, designers, contractors, and regulatory bodies to deliver measurable, long‑term sustainability impact.
Qualifications
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
• Strategic Leadership
- Drive the project’s sustainability strategy in line with client goals and Portuguese regulations.
- Define and monitor KPIs (PUE, WUE, water, waste, renewables) and support Net Zero objectives.
- Lead sustainability certifications (LEED, BREEAM) and introduce innovative sustainability solutions.
• Design & Construction Oversight
- Integrate sustainability into design decisions, materials, and systems.
- Review design documents and ensure alignment with sustainability targets.
- Support contractors with sustainable construction practices and conduct site reviews.
- Manage sustainability-related submittals and approvals.
• Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Set up and manage systems to track environmental performance.
- Analyze data and prepare concise, actionable reports.
- Recommend improvements and ensure accurate environmental documentation.
• Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as the primary sustainability contact for all project partners.
- Collaborate closely with clients, designers, contractors, and regulators.
- Support communication efforts and deliver sustainability training sessions.
• Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Portuguese environmental laws and permitting requirements.
- Oversee audits, inspections, and regulatory updates.
Qualifications
Your qualifications include:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field, giving you a strong foundation to lead environmental excellence.
- 10+ years of hands‑on experience driving sustainability across large‑scale construction, MEP, or mission‑critical projects.
- Valuable experience in data centers or other high‑performance sectors such as Oil & Gas or Pharma.
- Strong expertise in sustainable design and major certification frameworks (LEED, BREEAM), plus a solid understanding of Portuguese environmental standards.
- Proven analytical, communication, and project management skills, with the ability to influence and engage diverse stakeholders.
- Fluency in English and Portuguese, ensuring smooth collaboration with both local and international teams.
