Role Summary
The Transmission Line Engineer II supports the engineering and design of high-voltage and medium-voltage transmission line projects from early scoping through construction. This role performs transmission line design and analysis tasks using standard engineering methods, tools, and company procedures, with guidance from senior engineers.
This position is intended for developing mid-level engineers with foundational transmission line experience who are building technical depth while contributing to renewable energy and grid infrastructure projects.
Duties & Responsibilities
Engineering & Technical Responsibilities
- Perform transmission line and/or medium voltage overhead design and analysis using PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE for high-voltage and medium-voltage projects.
- Support development and EPC-level engineering deliverables including issue for construction (IFC) drawing and specification packages under guidance from senior engineers.
- Produce load sheets, calculations, and drawings for custom steel pole structures.
- Develop insulator and hardware assemblies, including details and bill of materials.
- Apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria with increasing independence.
- Identify and resolve routine design issues and scope changes; escalate complex or unconventional problems for review.
- Ensure work complies with applicable codes, industry standards, and project requirements.
Project Execution & Coordination
- Work on defined portions of larger transmission projects or small standalone work scopes.
- Coordinate with senior engineers, project managers, and internal disciplines to align scope and deliverables.
- Manage assigned tasks to meet schedules and quality expectations.
- Participate in internal design reviews and incorporate feedback into final deliverables.
- Attend project meetings and present specific technical aspects of assigned work when needed.
- Receive a thorough review of completed work for application of sound professional judgment.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Required
- Bachelor’s degree or greater in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field.
- Proficiency with PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE.
- Ability to apply standard transmission engineering methods with moderate independence.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in calculations and drawings.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience producing load sheets, pole designs, and transmission structure drawings
- Familiarity with insulator assemblies, hardware specifications, and material lists.
- Experience with custom steel pole design and IFC documentation packages.
Preferred
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
- Experience with transmission line foundation design software such as PLS-MFAD.
- Experience with CAD Drafting softwares such as AutoCAD or MicroStation.
- Prior experience supporting EPC or utility-scale transmission projects.
