Job Summary:
The Human Resources Specialist (Recruiting & Retention) will be responsible for staffing and talent acquisition to build a strong workforce, including developing and implementing effective recruitment strategies to attract and hire qualified applicants as well as employee relations that maintains strong talent retention. Responsibilities include managing the applicant tracking system (ATS), conducting interviews, extending offers of employment, and retention. A successful candidate will love interacting with people, understand the recruiting cycle, and have a desire to learn, understand, and support our organization.
Description:
- Provides human resources services, primarily recruiting and staffing by actively recruiting to find and hire talent with appropriate experience, skills, and abilities to meet the needs of the position.
- Serves as a primary point of contact for candidates and hiring managers of assigned positions by building effective relationships; delivers exceptional customer service through quality performance and follow-through.
- Manages recruiting cycle including but not limited to application/resume review, conducting preliminary interviews, scheduling and participating in interviews and checking references.
- Assess candidates’ qualifications via application, resume reviews and phone interviews.
- Schedules interviews, works with hiring managers on selection process, and employment offers; contributes relative feedback.
- Maintains and utilizes recruitment applicant tracking system to ensure accurate data, monitors applicant process.
- Performs employee retention check-ins, provides relative feedback, develops reports of findings.
- Create and manage social media calendar and posts related to employment openings, benefits, employee recognition, etc.
- Develops and maintains candidate sourcing from a variety of channels including job boards, professional networks, serves as primary point of contact and attends job fairs and off-site events.
- Performs additional HR related duties including but not limited to reviewing Workers’ Compensation claims, assisting department managers with cause of incident, and recommends training as necessary. Collaborates with ADA coordinator for modified duty accommodations.
- Performs clerical activities including generating system reports, filing, and distributing correspondence/information to candidates, maintains records in accordance with retention guidelines.
- Maintains a consistent, customer-focused attitude when conducting business and providing services to employees, the public, and other customers.
- Participates in training as required or assigned.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee/applicant records.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related projects as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field with a minimum of two (2) years related experience required. OR
- High school diploma or recognized equivalent plus a minimum of six (6) years of related human resources recruiting experience.
- Knowledge, ability, and experience with employee relations, workers' compensation is a plus.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal) are required, must be comfortable proactively communicating with others, must be comfortable talking in front of a group of people.
- Must be self-motivated, attentive to details, creative, have good customer service skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Critical thinking skills with the ability to develop recruiting plans and strategies.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time, recognize and respond to priorities, and regularly meet deadlines.
- Able to give and receive feedback effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
- Ability to utilize social media in recruiting.
- Knowledge of electronic applicant tracking systems.
- Valid driver’s license required.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
- Exert up to 35 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
- More than 50% of the typical workday will be spent sitting, reaching, grasping and using repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and fingers, certain periods will require more than 50% of the day spent walking and standing.
- Between 25% and 50% of the typical workday may be spent climbing stairs, pushing and pulling.
- Less than 25% of the day is spent standing, kneeling, crouching and/or stooping.
- Must have visual clarity to prepare and analyze data and use computer.
- Sensory abilities required include vision, hearing and touching with more than 50% of the day spent communicating, talking, and hearing.
- Majority of work will be performed within an indoor office environment, however, work may be occasionally performed outdoors and subject to adverse environmental conditions.
- Noise level is considered quiet to normal.
