The Worldwide Environment team (focusing on waste, water, circularity and biodiversity) utilizes science-based approaches to lower Amazon’s environmental impact in the areas of waste, water, and biodiversity across the operations of our business units and products, making meaningful and measurable impacts in the communities in which we operate.
We're seeking an experienced Senior Sustainability Specialist to drive critical waste reduction and circular solutions initiatives across our global operations. This strategic role will directly impact Amazon's environmental footprint across our fulfillment centers, transportation network, and retail operations.
Working at the intersection of sustainability, operations, and innovation, you'll collaborate with senior leadership to develop and scale programs that revolutionize how Amazon manages waste and resources.
You'll be responsible for creating and implementing frameworks that drive measurable environmental improvements while maintaining operational excellence across our worldwide facilities. This role offers the unique opportunity to make a lasting impact on global sustainability practices and diverse stakeholders across Amazon.
A successful Sustainability Specialist must be able to work independently, be comfortable with ambiguity, and influence internal/external partners at all levels of the organization.
Key job responsibilities
- Manage the development and execution of waste prevention and diversion programs
- Work with diverse and senior stakeholders to develop, coordinate, and implement waste prevention and diversion frameworks into the business
- Use analytical tools to evaluate program impact and available data
- Own recommendations for sustainability-related solutions, including business cases to get buy-in from senior stakeholders

- Bachelor's degree
- Experience delivering results for large, cross-functional initiatives/projects
- Program management experience in sustainability or environmental initiatives
- Knowledge of data analytics with tools such as SQL, Quick-sight
- Master's degree
- Experience leading waste management, circular economy, or environmental programs
- Knowledge of global environmental regulations and compliance requirements
- Strong stakeholder management and influence skills
- Excellence in written and verbal communication

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $125,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $207,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
